Having bugs crawling around your home is possibly a house wife’s worst nightmare and biggest nemesis. It doesn’t matter if they’re as harmless as gnats, as vengeful as ants or as disgusting as cockroaches; pests need to be gone. That’s just how it is. One time, I was laying on my couch looking out the sliding glass door to the back porch where there was a cockroach on its back, struggling to survive. My spouse entered the room and upon asking what I was doing, received the reply, “Trying to feel sorry for this cockroach but it’s not happening. I’m soul-less.” The thing is, surely all bugs serve a purpose but their missions need to stay outside the walls of our homes. Here are natural pest elimination techniques for you to try.

Natural Pest Control Contractors
It’s important to try and abide by the most organic and natural forms of pest control that there are. There are many pest control contractors that will have non-toxic or hazardous products that they can use. Allowing a local pest control service to barge into your home and spray poisonous chemicals everywhere is actually going to be worse for you than a few bugs. Try calling around the pest control contractors in your area and find out what types of products they use and if they offer a natural solution to your problem. You should be able to find someone if you look hard enough. However, even if a company said that they do offer natural solutions, you should be around when they spray your home. The smell, or lack thereof, will tell you a lot about the kind of product they are spraying. If you aren’t allowed to stay, this should be a red flag.

DIY Natural Pest Control Products
If you don’t want to spend the money on an actual pest control contractor or just prefer to do things yourself, you can find many natural products online. You will probably have to special order them to make sure that you get what you want. Just make sure to check the ingredients on the back of any product bottle that you look at. Sometimes things can claim that they are organic or natural but once you look at the ingredients, you’ll see that there are a lot of things on that list that don’t look organic at all. In fact, they’re pretty much impossible to even pronounce.

Home Remedies
There are a lot of things that you may already have in the house that would work as a pest repellent. For example, cucumber and mint are very disliked by ants. Pretty much all bugs don’t like garlic juice and you could actually repel bugs by drinking and eating certain things that bugs don’t like to be around. If you make them in your home and then eat them, if the bugs try to enter your home they will be repelled by the smell and senses of your home as well as the people who leave in it.

Candles
A great way to repel certain pests is by using essential oils and melted wax over candles. You only need a few drops of oil and a few ounces of wax to do the trick. Some good blends are citronella, lavender and clove or you could try citronella, lavender and peppermint. Citronella, cedar wood, eucalyptus and rosemary also make a great combination, especially if you are trying to get rid of mosquitoes. For best results, you should heat up vodka, olive oil or witch hazel with the oils or waxes.

Getting rid of bugs isn’t jut good for you and your family. One of the most embarrassing things is to invite guests over for a dinner or a party and have them all leave with bites all over them. Even worse, if you have a guest spend the night and they wake up with bites, even if it’s only a spider or ants, they’ll assume bed bugs which are definitely a sign of poor hygiene. This is not to say you actually do have bed bites, but that’s the first thing your over night guest will assume and it’s safe to say, things will never be the same between you. Get more info here.
